Last weekend, Pleasant Lake residents woke up to find all of the water drained from the lake. Naturally, the town turned into a fully-operating investigative unit when the news spread, but there are only so many details uncovered so far.
Camera footage has been uncovered from someone’s porch, and it shows a man walking towards the lake late at night, and seemingly pulling something out of the lake. According to some members of the Facebook group, What’s Going On In Pleasant Lake, it looks like he is pulling up a big plug from the bottom of the lake.
The lake also dried up in very big gaps. It was about 20 percent dry at the start of February, and the footage is dated Feb. 1. The lake was then dried up 30 percent by Feb. 5. Then, the lake was dried up over 50 percent by March 15, and then completely dried up on March 28.
If this has been caused naturally by a lack of waterflow, the amount of water in the lake would not have gone down rapidly. The leading theory is that the man captured on camera somehow had a drain in the lake.
In a rush of anger, people started blaming the residents of the island that got sick of boaters constantly going onto their property and being annoying during summer, so they drained the lake while no one was using it.
People of Pleasant Lake are now frantically trying to figure out a way to fix the sudden change in fun for them, and come up with an alternative to boating.
“We Pleasant Lakers know how to party, so we’ll find a way,” said Stacy Wables, a Pleasant Lake resident. “Everyone can bring out their kitty pools, and we can hang out there.”
But the question remains: Who committed this act of terror on Pleasant Lake? Will the community ever receive justice for the actions?
